To escape from them he came running out of the wood holding his hands pressed against his stomach, and blood was flowing from under them.

When the bearded wounded man reached the Tsar, he fell fainting on the ground moaning feebly.  After that the Tsar with the hermit’s help saved his life. The bearded man became repentant and craved for the Tsar’s forgiveness. Thus the bearded man met with the Tsar.

The wounded bearded man also promised the Tsar that if he lived and if he wished, he would serve him as his most faithful slave, and would bid his sons to do the same.
