Rapid Reader English Textbook

Description

Aiming higher education the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education [WBCHSE] has selected the edited version of Charles and Merry Lamb’s ‘Tales from Shakespeare’ as a Rapid Reader Text for English (B) students of class-xi under WBCHSE. In this edition, only five plays have been selected—The Comedy of Errors, As You Like It, Twelfth Night (all comedies); and Othello and Macbeth (tragedies). The stories of these plays have been taken from Charles Lamb and Merry Lamb’s ‘Tales from Shakespeare’, an available common collection to all. The nineteenth century English language is edited to make it modern, easy, and student-friendly. The WBCHSE’s main intention is to make the students familiar with the story-elements of these plays so that they can form a preliminary idea of Shakespearean comedies and tragedies before they move on to higher classes. This is a text for rapid reading and the students will definitely find pleasure in going through these stories.

At the end of these stories there is a portion on ESP and project work information.

Best wishes for the students from WBCHSE
